Rutgers, New Jersey Medical School is seeking a Temporary Research Assistant for Microbiology, Biochemistry and Molecular Genetics. The purpose of this position is to provide animal husbandry, cell biological, genetic, molecular, and biochemical support relevant to Dr. Rogers’ NIH funded project.

* Performs laboratory research requiring analysis of mouse tissues and application of standard cellular, molecular, biochemical, and animal husbandry procedures.

* Performs specialized organ culture, derivation and maintenance of primary and stem cells, protein separation, advanced diagnostic assays, specialized animal handling (e.g., drug dosing methods).

* Must be able and willing to conduct experiments involving rodents such as: genotyping, breeding, tissue isolation, and dissection.

* Must be able and willing to conduct experiments involving hazardous materials such as staining reagents, anesthesia reagents, liquid nitrogen, chemistry, serology, and histological fixatives.

* Maintains necessary lab records, databases, and files as hard copies and computer files.

* Designs and performs research experiments, compiles data, assists in data analysis and in preparation of materials for publications and reports.

* Supervises students and lab technicians.

* Maintains and manages lab supplies.

* Performs other related duties as assigned.
