**_What You Will Do_**
**_This position will be filled at either the Mechanical Engineer 3 or 4 level, depending on the skills of the selected candidate. Additional job responsibilities (outlined below) will be assigned if the candidate is hired at the higher level._**
The successful candidate will be expected to perform the following duties of this position, but are not necessarily limited to:
**Mechanical Engineer 3 ($89,900 – $148,300)**
+ Providing PdM technologies to customers throughout the laboratory.
+ Prepare equipment reports and studies.
+ Promote leadership, quality, and safety values in all aspects of job duties.
+ Implement the LANL Conduct of Engineering (COE) Program as it pertains to PdM.
+ Support Engineering Evaluations of equipment and systems for performance, safety, and deficiencies.
+ Provide guidance to FOD teams that wish to establish a PdM program in their facility.
+ Provide training to PdM technicians, engineers, and managers.
+ Provide troubleshooting assistance through the use of PdM technologies.
**Mechanical Engineer 4 ($108,100 – $182,500)**
In addition to the duties outlined above, the Mechanical Engineer 4 will be required to:
+ Use broad and/or unique knowledge and skills to contribute to the development of objectives and principles and to achieve goals in creative and effective ways.
+ Viewed as expert within field within the Laboratory.
**_What You Need_**
**Minimum Job Requirements:**
**Mechanical Engineer (Engineer 3)**
+ Advanced knowledge of vibration analysis and familiarization with CSI/Emerson Model 2140 FFT data collector and AMS Machinery Suite Software. Ability to obtain Level I Vibration Analysis Certification within one year on hire date.
+ Advanced knowledge of thermography including low voltage electrical testing, flat roof surveys for moisture problems, underground steam/condensate leaks, and steam trap function check. Ability to obtain Level I Infrared Thermography certification within one year of hire date.
+ Advanced knowledge of airborne ultrasound inspection using the UE Systems Ultra Probe 15000 along with UE Systems Ultra Trend DMS software. Ability to obtain Level I Airborne Ultrasound certification within one year of hire date.
+ Ability to conceptualize and fully communicate major elements of PdM to both technical and non-technical personnel.
+ Excellent interpersonal, oral and written communication skills and demonstrated ability to interact effectively with all levels of personnel and customers.
+ Ability to mentor and guide other PdM personnel.
+ Experience with Root Cause Failure Analysis (RFCA).
+ Proficiency with personal computers and Microsoft Office software suite (including Excel, Access,Word, Outlook, and Powerpoint).
+ Demonstrated knowledge of DOE standards applicable to facility operation, and maintenance.
+ BS degree in Mechanical Engineering from an ABET Accredited College or University
+ Six to eight years of relevant design experience
**Mechanical Engineer 4 (Engineer 4)**
In addition to the job requirements outlined above, additional qualifications:
+ Requires 10 to 12 years of relevant PdM experience.
+ Recognized expertise in a PdM technologies and program implementation.
+ In-depth knowledge of a large facility complex predictive maintenance policies, practices, and procedures.
+ Familiarity with laser alignment and field balancing.
+ Requires four years of nuclear design experience.
+ Familiar with LANL Conduct of Maintenance (COM) Policies and Procedures.
+ Familiar with LANL Quality policies and procedures.
+ Master’s degree.
+ DOE Q clearance.
**Clearance:** **Q** (Position will be cleared to this level). Applicants selected will be subject to a Federal background investigation and must meet eligibility requirements
* for access to classified matter.
