Postdoctoral Fellow – Haghighi lab
The Haghighi lab at the Buck Institute for Research on Aging investigates the molecular mechanisms that govern synaptic function, plasticity and homeostasis, and how these mechanisms are influenced by metabolic cues and inter tissue signaling during aging. Our research program also explores the link between synaptic function and neuronal health and survival in models of neurodegenerative diseases. For our studies, we combine a number of different approaches including genetics, electrophysiology, imaging and proteomics both in fruit flies and mice.
This postdoctoral fellowship is funded by NIH and we are particularly interested in candidates who are enthusiastic about using multidisciplinary approaches in their work and are open to working collaboratively.
Candidates must have a PhD in biological sciences or a related field and a strong publication record. Applicants with experience and working knowledge in electrophysiology or genetics are encouraged to apply.
About the Buck Institute for Research on Aging
Our success will ultimately change healthcare. At the Buck, we aim to end the threat of age-related diseases for this and future generations by bringing together the most capable and passionate scientists from a broad range of disciplines to identify and impede the ways in which we age. An independent, non-profit institute located in Marin County, CA, our goal is to increase human health span, or the healthy years of life. Globally recognized as the pioneer and leader in efforts to target aging, the number one risk factor for serious diseases including Alzheimer’s, Parkinson’s, cancer, macular degeneration, heart disease, and diabetes, the Buck wants to help people live better longer.
